Gallup: Worries about energy costs are up by 10 percentage points since last year, the highest level since 2008, and tie housing as the second biggest affordability concern
Gas prices saw their sixth-largest daily increase ever yesterday, jumping 11 cents to $4.16
Washington, DC – Gas prices are at their highest level since 2022 as Trump’s war of choice in Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz and brought the world’s oil supply to a grinding halt. Trump and Republicans have desperately tried to convince the American people that prices at the pump will go down, but as the war enters its ninth week with no end in sight, Americans’ anxiety and costs continue to rise. With just six months until the midterm elections, a new Gallup poll showed that energy costs are one of the top two affordability concerns for Americans.

One group who isn’t concerned: Trump’s Big Oil donors. Today, BP announced its profits had more than doubled since the start of Trump’s war of choice. Last week, Liberty Energy, which was founded and formerly run by Trump’s Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and EQT Corporation also announced massive profits. On the campaign trail, Trump offered oil and gas companies, including Liberty and EQT, a “deal” if they donated a billion dollars to his campaign, and now, they’re cashing in while American families pay the price at the pump.
