Happy Birthday, Governor Armstrong! Here’s Your Present From Donald Trump: Higher Energy Costs and Fewer Jobs

North Dakota is among the states hit hardest by Trump’s threats to cut almost $24 billion in investment in red and blue states

Washington, D.C. – To celebrate Republican Governor Kelly Armstrong’s birthday today, Trump is considering cancelling $1.32 billion in clean energy projects in North Dakota, a state which relies on wind power to provide one-third of its electricity. Even Former North Dakota Governor and Trump’s current Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, has bragged about the importance of wind power to his state. Now, he and Trump are taking a sledgehammer to projects that would have lowered utility costs, created jobs, and protected the clean energy that he once touted.

Trump has used Americans as bargaining chips in shutdown negotiations by cancelling billions of dollars in investment across the country rather than agree to lower health care costs.
“Trump is sending Governor Armstrong an unwanted birthday gift: higher prices and fewer North Dakota jobs,” said Climate Power Communications Director Alex Glass. “It’s time for Republicans across the board to end Trump’s self-made energy crisis and push back on these reckless cuts that are spiking prices and gutting jobs.”
