ICYMI: Sec. Yellen’s Visit to North Carolina Highlights What’s at Stake for North Carolina – over 11,000 Clean Energy Jobs and Substantial Cost Savings for North Carolina Residents

Raleigh, N.C. — Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visited North Carolina to highlight the benefits of the Biden-Harris Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), or clean energy plan, for North Carolinians. Across the U.S. over 330,000 clean energy jobs have been created, with over 11,000 jobs and $19 billion invested in North Carolina. In North Carolina, over 85,000 consumers received $173 million in tax credits for upgrading their homes through the clean energy plan.

The U.S. Department of Treasury released data on IRA tax credit uptake that shows 3.4 million Americans took advantage of the credits — more than double the federal government’s early projections

Vice President Harris helped pass the law that is bringing good jobs to North Carolina. Vice President Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which is the most significant climate investment in American history, lowering costs while creating more than 330,000 good-paying jobs  jobs that will be jeopardized if Trump is elected in November.

North Carolina Republicans are benefitting from the IRA, even though they voted against it. In North Carolina, 51% of the jobs and business investment are in Republican districts, including those represented by Republican Representatives David Rouzer, Dan Bishop, Richard Hudson, and Patrick Henry, all of whom voted against the legislation
