ICYMI: Wisconsin Leaders Celebrate Two-Year Anniversary of Inflation Reduction Act

Madison, WI— Today, Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway, Former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, Dave Boethcer of IBEW Local 159, and Robin Lisowski of Slipstream came together to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act and the clean energy revolution that has turbocharged a jobs and energy savings boom.

Since the Biden-Harris administration enacted the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022, 330,000+ jobs and hundreds of billions of dollars in private sector clean energy investments have been created nationwide, including $940 million in local investments and close to 2,000 new clean energy jobs in Wisconsin. New data from the IRS shows that more than 73,000 Wisconsin families have benefited from more than $91 million in tax credits to lower the costs of clean energy and energy efficiency upgrades to their homes during 2023.

“With the clean energy transition, we have the opportunity to usher in an inclusive economic boom for the first time in our nation’s history. And families and homeowners are at the heart of this economic boom.” said Forward Together Wisconsin President Mandela Barnes. “We want more people to know that the clean energy revolution is here thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. Smart climate solutions like these are what the people of Wisconsin want.”

“We are experiencing unprecedented growth in membership and training programs, which is bringing the benefits of stable, family-supporting careers to households across Wisconsin and strengthening our local economy,” said Dave Boetcher, IBEW Local 159.  “Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, union jobs are growing the clean energy economy, and Wisconsin labor is paving the way for a union-driven clean energy future.”

“Clean energy is the way forward for our country,” said Robin Lisowski, Managing Director of Policy at Slipstream. “The Inflation Reduction Act is a monumental [piece of] legislation that is transforming the energy sector across our country and here in Wisconsin. The impact we are seeing thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act cannot be overstated. This is a win for our local economy and a win for our families…These are the policies the people of Wisconsin deserve and need.”
