MAGA CONGRESSIONAL EXTREMISTS PLAN TO KILL THE POPULAR INFLATION REDUCTION ACT WITH EXTREME, JOB-KILLING TAX CUT PROPOSAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last month, MAGA extremists in Congress failed to kill the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy incentives with the debt limit deal, proving just how popular the legislation’s clean energy incentives are to communities across the country. However, the MAGA extremist anti-clean energy crusade continues as they try to gut the Inflation Reduction Act with their pro-polluter tax plan. The plan will raise costs on working families, kill clean energy jobs, and pad Big Oil CEOs’ pockets. 

Congressional Republicans’ constituents stand to lose the most if their extreme, unpopular budgetary plan becomes law. President Biden’s clean energy plan has helped create nearly 150,000 clean energy jobs, with more than half in Republican-held districts. 

“Time and time again, MAGA Congressional Republicans have proved that they would rather go to bat for Big Oil, who made an eye-popping $400 billion in oil profits last year, than their constituents, who stand to lose the most if President Biden’s clean energy plan is repealed,” said Lori Lodes, Executive Director of Climate Power. “This proposal is just another threat to the creation of more good-paying U.S. jobs and billions of dollars in investments in local communities across the country.”
