House Republicans Have Now Voted to Repeal the Inflation Reduction Act 31 Times
WASHINGTON, D.C. – While the MAGA Republican Majority in the House remains fractious, it continues to be united around one goal: padding Big Oil’s profits by repealing the Inflation Reduction Act. As of today, House Republicans have now voted to repeal the law in whole or in part 31 times, according to an updated analysis released today by Climate Power, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Climate Action Campaign. New votes added to the tally include votes on the Energy-Water and Interior Appropriations bills as well as the recent House vote to rescind funding from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Last cycle, Republicans took a total of $39.4 million in campaign contributions from the oil and gas industry, and they have voted like it with their single-minded focus on attempting to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act.
The Climate Power-League of Conservation Voters-Climate Action Campaign Inflation Reduction Act Repeal Tracker will continue to be updated on a regular basis as MAGA Republicans remain focused on killing the clean energy boom and doing Big Oil’s bidding.
According to Climate Power’s latest report on the rise of clean energy:
- Clean energy companies have announced or advanced more than 210,000 jobs in 45 states and Puerto Rico.
- The report details 388 clean energy projects, totaling $310 billion in new investments. Since the last Climate Power report, companies have added or announced 40,000 new jobs, with a total of $31.62 billion in investments.
- This report is the first from Climate Power to break down the clean energy boom in rural communities, which are benefiting from significant investments in clean energy. Since August 2022, 70 new projects are located in rural communities, with a total of $35.59 billion in new investments and 33,578 new clean energy jobs.
Last week, the League of Conservation Voters also released a report detailing the Republicans in Congress who have supported clean energy funding from the Inflation Reduction Act in their home district despite voting against the bill.
