NEW: Analysis Shows Donald Trump Could Cost Families $32 Billion, Kill 1.5 Million Jobs

Washington, D.C. — As Republicans set out to gut America’s clean energy investments to fund tax cuts for billionaires, a new study from the nonpartisan group Energy Innovation quantifies the economic pain it would inflict on working families across the country. The report includes state-by-state breakdowns on both jobs and costs and finds, among other things, repealing the IRA would:
- Hike household energy bills by $32 billion from 2025-2035, costing the average family more than $100 per year in many states.
- Cost America nearly 1.5 million jobs by 2035.
- Lead to more than 300 additional premature deaths each year as increased air pollution harms public health.
“Americans simply cannot afford the GOP’s war on clean energy,” said Climate Power communications director Alex Glass. “This study makes clear that Republicans’ plan to take a chainsaw to our clean energy economy would raise costs and rip away good jobs from working families – and all to pay for another handout to billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump.”
