NEW ANALYSIS: Trump Rakes in As Much As $21 Million from Oil and Gas Stocks as Prices at the Pump Break Records

Gas prices are on track for the highest Election Day prices on record
Polling shows shows two out of three Americans believe Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself, a marked increase since this time last year
Washington, DC – Trump said the quiet part out loud this weekend when he bragged about how much money billion-dollar oil and gas companies are making as gas prices skyrocket. New analysis from Climate Power shows that he was really talking about himself and his ultra-wealthy Big Oil buddies, not the American people. As oil and gas companies rake in billions of dollars in profits thanks to Trump’s war of choice in Iran, Trump himself has profited by as much as $21 million from his oil and gas holdings so far this year.
Trump’s windfall comes as voters increasingly say that corruption is a key concern. American families have spent an extra $4,700 on goods and services thanks to Trump’s war in Iran and other reckless policies, and in states like Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin, the record-breaking price of diesel has hit farmers particularly hard. Trump promised to cut energy costs in half and stop inflation, but he’s made the affordability crisis even worse.
Climate Power Communications Director Alex Glass issued the following statement: “Trump promised to cut energy costs in half. Instead, he launched a war that sent gas prices soaring, and now he’s cashing in. Families are stretching every paycheck to fill the tank, farmers are being crushed by record diesel prices, and Trump’s personal oil and gas stocks are climbing right alongside Big Oil’s profits. With just over a week until Election Day, voters can hold him and his party accountable for putting Big Oil’s bottom line, and his own, ahead of working families.”
