NEW: Climate Power Report Finds That Since the Passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, Hundreds of Jobs and $445 Million in Investments Have Been Generated in Wisconsin

President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ Clean Energy Plan is delivering America’s clean energy boom

Madison, WI  — In just under a year since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ clean energy plan has helped turbocharge our clean energy economy to new heights. Over the past year, clean energy businesses have announced or moved forward with more than 170,000 jobs across 44 states according to Climate Power’s new report. The report details 272 new clean energy projects ranging from manufacturing electric vehicles in Arizona to developing solar infrastructure in Florida, and totaling $275 billion in new investments.

As of 2022, Wisconsin had more than 70,000 clean energy jobs across the state, including jobs in renewable electricity generation, energy storage, energy efficiency, and clean vehicles. The $445 million in new investments made as a result of the Inflation Reduction Act include a $100 million investment by ABB, the addition of utility-scale battery storage systems to Alliant Energy’s solar energy farms in Wood and Grant Counties, and a new electrical component manufacturing facility by Excellerate.

“Thanks to President Biden and the Democrats’ clean energy plan, made-in-America manufacturing jobs are coming back to Wisconsin and the U.S.,” said Lori Lodes, Climate Power’s Executive Director. “In just a year, we’ve seen Bidenomics transform this country — the clean energy plan is delivering for families right now. Meanwhile Congressional MAGA Republicans are ignoring how climate change and extreme weather is devastating their communities and are dead set on killing our clean energy economy. It’s clear who has been fighting for America’s middle class: President Biden and Democrats.”

Thanks to the Biden Administration’s clean energy policies, communities across the country are becoming more resilient to the devastating impacts of climate change and our clean energy economy continues to add new employees to the workforce. Additionally, most of the clean energy projects and growth in the past year have occurred in congressional districts represented by Republicans. Thus far, 152 clean energy projects in 92 Republican held districts have moved forward with 96,216 new jobs, totaling $224.89billion in investments.

The Inflation Reduction Act has touched Americans in every corner of the country, with rural towns, big cities, and every community in between reaping the benefits. The clean energy boom in America has only just begun.
