New Website Helps Nevada Residents Unlock Thousands of Dollars in Energy Savings

NEVADA — Today, local leaders and clean energy advocates gathered for the launch of SaveEnergyNV.org, a new website designed to help Nevada residents save money on their energy bills by connecting Nevadans to thousands of dollars in available federal energy tax credits, utility rebates, and upcoming home energy programs — just as tripe-digit temperatures return and as Nevadans begin receiving tax refunds.
“SaveEnergyNV.org really is a launchpad for families to take control of their energy use and to get the savings they deserve,” said Angelyn Tabalba, Clean Energy Plan Consultant for the Nevada Conservation League. “Energy costs are high, tax credits are really hard to navigate, and we need solutions. This website is about putting tools directly into the hands of Nevadans so that they can lower their energy costs.”
This free, easy-to-use website connects Nevada residents to federal, state, and utility programs they may qualify for and better plan for energy upgrades, such as solar, heat pumps, a home energy audit, electric vehicles, and more.
“This website, this information is something that you can access 24/7 in the comfort of your home,” said Professor Francine Lipman at UNLV Boyd School of Law. “What’s so empowering about this website is that it is for us. It is for we the people. And that is why I’m excited to share this with my law students, so they can see how you navigate and customize our federal income tax system.”

Nevada ranks among the top states in the nation with the highest electricity bills, with families paying an average of $100.05 more on their bills compared to a few years ago. The average Nevada resident pays $2,132.50 per year on electricity costs. For low-income households in Las Vegas, utility costs can eat up to 13% of their income, more than twice the national median energy burden for similar households. As temperatures rise, Nevadans should know about existing programs that help keep homes safe and comfortable and keep energy bills affordable.
“One of the most difficult barriers to electrification efficiency for homes is the upfront cost,” said Will Pregman, Senior Loan Officer and Program Manager of the Nevada Clean Energy Fund. “Tax credits, rebates, and other incentives are ways that families can lessen that burden and take the steps to lower their energy bills and also improve the quality of life in their home.”
“There’s only so much you can do without the right energy-efficient and clean energy appliances. They either cost too much money or aren’t really marketed to our communities,” said Audrey Peral, State Director for CHISPA Nevada. “We ran a statewide poll of the Latino community in Nevada earlier this year. Nearly two-thirds said they want clean energy options like solar panels, electric vehicles, and energy-efficient appliances, but cannot afford them. That’s why we’re really excited to have a new website where community members can get information on how to save with clean energy, and we’re even more excited for this website to be available in Spanish soon.”
Backed by funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, clean energy tax credits and efficiency programs are already delivering for Nevada. In 2023 alone, more than 41,000 Nevada families saved more than $151 million on clean energy and energy efficiency upgrades to their homes. SaveEnergyNV.org offers personalized guidance to help residents access these savings and make smart, affordable choices about how they power their homes and get around.
“We save money every month due to the solar panels that we purchased and the tax credits that were made available through federal legislation made our investment in these panels much more affordable,” Paulette Henriod, Las Vegas resident and solar owner. “Solar energy significantly, significantly reduces our monthly electricity bill, which is especially helpful during the hot summer months. During moderate or cold months, the excess energy that our solar panels produce gets credited to our account so that even with monthly financing payments for the panels, we are still saving money.”
“These incentives for energy audits definitely have been receiving an increased number of calls from homeowners who’s main thought is ‘hey, it’s getting hot. We know what our bills were last month. What can we do to preempt these high bills this summer?’” said Les Lazareck, owner of Home Energy Connections, LLC in Las Vegas.
With another scorching summer around the corner, Nevada families are bracing for sky-high bills and life-threatening heat. Last summer’s record-breaking heat contributed to 526 deaths in Clark County alone, while electricity costs strained household budgets.
“People just don’t know there is literally money on the table to make your homes more energy efficient and to save money at the same time,” said Kristee Watson, Executive Director of Nevada Conservation League. “There’s a lot at stake in this fight against the climate crisis — Nevada has two of the fastest-warming cities in the United States, and we have poor air quality. We want to do everything we can to drive down greenhouse gas emissions and make sure that our health is protected.”
Nevadans’ support for tax credits remains strong. A poll shows 76% of Nevadans support keeping clean energy tax credits in place, including broad bipartisan support for electric vehicle incentives. These provisions remain at risk, however.
Congress remains in active deliberations over the future of clean energy investments and tax credits that have helped tens of thousands of Nevada families cut costs, spurred $15.5 billion in investment, and created over 21,000 jobs. If these programs are rolled back, Nevada households could see annual energy costs jump by nearly $300, the second-highest projected increase in the country. Rolling back investments and tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act threatens 5,000 Nevada jobs and will reduce Nevada’s GDP by $95 million.
Tools like SaveEnergyNV.org matter now more than ever. Nevadans deserve to keep more of what they earn, rather than spending it on energy bills. This website empowers families to take full advantage of savings available today, while reminding leaders in Congress that these investments are working.
