Pennsylvanians Face Higher Utility Bills As Trump and Republicans Take Energy Options Off the Grid

Pennsylvania energy costs are up 15% and more than 1,100 clean energy jobs have been canceled or delayed thanks to Trump’s policies

Washington, DC – Thanks to Trump’s war on clean energy, Pennsylvanians may see their utility bills increase by nearly $10 per month, adding up to $120 per year, if the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approves rate hike requests from National Fuel and UGI Utilities. The news comes less than a week after the commission approved rate hikes of as much as 18% for some customers in the Keystone State. Forty-nine states and the District of Columbia saw rate hikes as high as $59.31 per month announced in 2025.

As voters increasingly cite soaring energy costs as a top concern, Pennsylvania Republicans Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), and Scott Perry (PA-10) rubber-stamped Trump’s reckless energy policies that raised utility prices for their own constituents.

Climate Power Senior Advisor Jesse Lee issued the following statement:

“Pennsylvania Republicans were warned that their votes to take clean energy off the grid would raise utility rates, but their loyalties were to Trump over their own constituents. Representatives Mackenzie, Bresnahan, and Scott knew their budget bill would raise costs in the Keystone State, but they voted for it anyway. This November, we’re going to make sure that they are held accountable at the ballot box for raising energy costs in the middle of an affordability crisis .”
