President Biden to Tout Climate and Clean Energy Investments in Visit to New Mexico

Albuquerque, New Mexico – Today, President Biden will travel to New Mexico to discuss his administration’s clean energy plan and how it’s bringing jobs to the state and fighting the climate crisis.

New Mexico has drawn over $6 billion in private sector investments since President Biden took office. The Biden Administration’s economic policies have brought 77,000 new jobs to the state, cutting the unemployment rate nearly in half to 3.6%. Thanks to President Biden’s clean energy plan, $444 million has been invested in New Mexico’s clean energy economy, with significant project announcements from companies like Arcosa Wind Towers, a construction engineering company, and PNM Resources, an electric services company.

Growing the state’s clean energy economy remains essential to ensuring grid security and equal access to electricity for residents needing air conditioning and cooling fans as the heat wave continues. With 110 million+ Americans expecting to see above-average temperatures through the end of August, the Biden Administration is taking action to expand renewable projects that offer power and economic stability. Recently, the Biden administration awarded $14 million to New Mexico to update and modify the state’s electric grid.
