Rep. Juan Ciscomani Betrays Arizonans, Votes to Put Hundreds of Clean Energy Jobs in Arizona’s 6th District on the Chopping Block

Washington, DC — Today, Representative Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) voted for House Republicans’ extreme budget reconciliation bill—legislation that repeals America’s clean energy investments and strips critical resources from Arizona families, all while delivering new tax handouts to billionaires and big corporations. With a vote of 215-214, every vote cast by Republican members of Congress was a deciding vote that propelled this legislation forward. Representative David Schweikert (AZ-01) missed the vote this morning, but as a member of the Ways and Means committee, was instrumental in writing and advancing the clean energy repeal bill

Rep. Ciscomani’s vote directly threatens $557 million in clean energy investment and 245 good-paying clean energy jobs in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District by repealing the clean energy tax credits of 2022. Despite previously calling on his colleagues to protect the clean energy tax credits, Ciscomani is now putting corporate giveaways ahead of Colorado workers, manufacturers, and families.

“Rep. Ciscomani and House Republicans just voted to create an American energy crisis. These same members have celebrated ribbon cuttings, touted new projects, and promised to protect the very investments they just voted to eliminate. This is a reckless betrayal of their constituents, done to appease Donald Trump and billionaire donors,” said Climate Power Executive Director Lori Lodes. “But this fight isn’t over. Senate Republicans have made it clear the House bill is unacceptable. Every single House member who voted to risk jobs in their districts, drive up costs, and threaten made-in-America energy will have to answer for that vote back home.”

The GOP bill would raise annual energy costs to Arizonans by $317 by 2030—the highest in the country—and devastate American clean energy manufacturing while ripping away health care from millions and driving up the deficit—all to pay for another round of tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.

According to Climate Power’s April 2025 Clean Energy Jobs Report, 19 of Arizona’s total 33 clean energy projects announced since 2022 are in Republican-held districts, representing 57.6% of all projects, 56.5% of all investments ($7.53 billion), and 50.5% of new jobs in the state (6,828 jobs).

Republicans’ extreme bill will put these gains at risk, including in their own districts, by gutting clean energy tax incentives, creating an American energy crisis. The full list of clean energy investments under threat from the Republican repeal bill is available here.
