Reps Mike Collins, Buddy Carter Head Home for Recess as Georgians Struggle to Pay for Gas, Groceries, Utilities

Georgia – This week, Representatives Mike Collins and Buddy Carter are headed back home to Georgia, where they are hosting district forums where they’re sure to gaslight their constituents by insisting that the affordability crisis is not their fault, or simply doesn’t exist at all. Unfortunately for them, Trump’s war in Iran is sending gas and diesel prices through the roof, making everything from airfare to groceries more expensive. This comes after Republicans voted to gut clean energy production, taking clean energy projects offline at a time when energy demand and utility costs are skyrocketing.
To make matters worse, Buddy Carter dismissed surging gas prices as merely a “temporary bump,” highlighting just how out of touch he is with the financial burden facing Georgia families every time they fill up their tank.
Here are just a few ways Georgians are worse off thanks to Trump:
- In the past month, the price of gas has increased by 32% in Georgia
- Since Trump took office, average household electricity prices have increased by 7.11%
- 231,834 Georgia households are behind on their utility bills, with an average debt of $514
- 3,492 clean energy jobs and over $3.9 billion in investments have been lost or stalled in Georgia
Here are some questions Rep. Collins and Carter owe Georgians answers to:
- What would you say to Georgians who are struggling to pay for the rising cost of groceries, gas, and utilities?
- What’s your response to the majority of Georgians who don’t support Trump’s war in Iran?
- Why haven’t you stood up against President Trump’s war on clean energy in Georgia?
Republicans in Congress like Mike Collins and Buddy Carter have voted to gut clean energy projects in their own state that would have created jobs and protected Americans from global energy shocks. Meanwhile, Trump is bragging about making money off of the war and telling Americans to quit whining about soaring gas prices, leaving vulnerable Republicans scrambling to spin his disastrous economic agenda.
