Republican Ways and Means Committee Members Advance Clean Energy Repeal Bill that Jeopardizes Over 14,000 Jobs in Their Own Districts

Washington, DC — Today, Ways and Means Committee Republican members advanced their clean energy repeal bill, which would put over $13 billion in investment and 14,000 jobs in their own districts at risk. The Republican repeal bill is a direct assault on American manufacturing and American-made energy, making it nearly impossible for companies to onshore manufacturing and jobs in the United States and raising energy costs for hardworking Americans.
Over the past three years, nearly 400,000 new clean energy jobs have been announced – the majority of which are in Republican districts as a result of the clean energy tax credits passed in 2022. By repealing these tax credits and imposing extreme, unworkable restrictions on companies trying to produce American clean energy, Republicans across the country are threatening job losses, surging energy costs, and cancelled investment in their own backyards.
Under this plan, over $13 billion in investment and 14,000 jobs could disappear in Republican Ways and Means Committee members’ districts. The full list of projects in these districts can be found here.

Project Highlights:
- Rep. Jodey C. Arrington’s district (TX-19) leads the nation in clean energy generation capacity with nearly 27 GW of clean power – and in 2022, Broadwind Heavy Fabrications invested $3 million to expand their wind turbine manufacturing operations in the district.
- LG Energy Solution and Honda invested $4.4 billion in an EV battery plant, creating over 2,200 new jobs in Rep. Mike Carey’s district (OH-15).
- GM and Samsung invested a combined $3 billion in an EV battery cell plant, creating over 1,700 jobs in Rudy Yakym III. (IN-02)’s district
