Trump is Raising Electricity Bills

Washington, D.C. — Donald Trump campaigned on lowering energy costs, but his executive orders have directly increased electricity bills for Americans. In Alabama, 250 people received letters notifying them their accounts would be charged $100 “due to President Trump’s Executive Order to rescind the funding behind the grant” that assisted with their utility bill. 

Climate Power communications director Alex Glass issued the following statement:

“As so many families are struggling to make ends meet, Donald Trump’s policies are hiking up their monthly utilities. In just a matter of weeks, Trump has broken his signature campaign promise. He isn’t lowering costs; he’s making life more expensive for American families.”  

Here are the facts: 

• Trump promised to cut energy costs in half in his first year. 
• Electricity bills have increased as a direct result of Trump’s executive orders. 
• Groceries and gas prices are already rising under Trump.
• 66% of Americans say that Trump isn’t doing enough to reduce prices.
