Trump Let Polluters Put Harmful Chemicals Into Michigan’s Air and Water

Flint, M.I. — As president, Donald Trump chose the oil and gas industry over the health and well-being of America’s families. He reversed more than 125 environmental protections, allowing the oil and gas industry to pollute Michigan’s air and water, delaying lead pipe replacement by decades. His Project 2025 plan will poison Michigan’s air and water, leaving Michigan’s frontline communities bearing the brunt of his pro-polluter agenda.

“For decades, Black and brown communities have felt the brunt of climate change and Big Oil’s pro-polluter agenda,” said Markeya Thomas, Climate Power’s Senior Advisor for Black Engagement. “While Kamala Harris is fighting for our freedom to have clean air and water, Donald Trump’s dangerous Project 2025 plan will make our communities pay the price for his dangerous polluter agenda. He will poison our air and water and gut good-paying clean energy jobs so his Big Oil donors can make a profit. We can’t afford another Trump presidency that gives Big Oil a free pass to dump toxic chemicals into our communities, destroying our health and well-being, and then passing along costs to us. Donald Trump is out for himself, which is why communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis will reject him at the ballot box come November.”

Kamala Harris has championed the freedom to have clean air and water throughout her career. As California’s attorney general, she made corporate polluters pay $50 million in damages, as U.S. Senator she pushed for legislation to replace lead pipes that helped shape the clean energy plan, and as Vice President, spearheaded the Justice40 Initiative.
