Trump Opens the Door to Climate Pollution, Endangering Americans’ Health and Welfare

Washington, D.C.  — Trump reportedly plans to roll back the Environmental Protection Agency’s longstanding pollution policy, which obligated the federal government to protect communities from climate pollutants in our air. This policy, under the Clean Air Act, is the foundation for protections against the climate-warming pollution that fuels asthma, extreme heat, and dangerous storms. Dismantling these protections will cost America billions in public health benefits and drive up climate‑driven disasters, all while enriching a handful of fossil fuel billionaires.

Climate Power Senior Advisor for Accountability Campaigns Alex Witt issued the following statement: “Trump says he wants to ‘Make America Healthy Again,’ but he is endangering Americans by allowing polluters to dump toxic chemicals into our air without consequences. These pollutants make our communities sick, give our children asthma, and worsen extreme weather – putting more lives at risk. Trump is willing to make our families sicker and less safe, all to benefit a few billionaire polluters.”
