Washington, D.C. – During his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Donald Trump spouted lies about climate change and clean energy to deflect from his self-inflicted energy crisis here in the U.S. Household utility bills are up 10% nationally since Trump took office. Trump’s petty vendetta against clean energy has already canceled or delayed 80,500 energy jobs and is blocking the cleanest, cheapest energy sources from being added to our grid when demand is higher than ever – ceding the future to China.
Climate Power senior advisor Alex Witt issued the following statement: “Trump is spouting climate-denying lies to deflect from the energy crisis that he created. His vendetta against clean energy is jacking up Americans’ utility bills and even putting people’s lives in danger, because it’s becoming too expensive to heat or cool their homes safely. Trump’s reckless policies are hiking costs and canceling jobs, while he gives oil and gas CEOs everything on their wishlist.”
