Trump’s EPA Is Recklessly Rolling Back Protections That Keep Our Air Clean and Families Healthy

New analysis details full list of Trump administration actions to roll back environmental and public health protections

Washington, D.C.  — Trump’s EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin is expected to announce plans to repeal the longstanding pollution policy that obligated the federal government to protect communities from climate pollutants in our air. This policy, under the Clean Air Act, is the foundation for protections against the climate-warming pollution that fuels asthma, extreme heat, and dangerous storms.

New analysis by Climate Power shows that this is the latest in a long series of Trump administration actions to roll back environmental and public health protections.

Climate Power Senior Advisor for Accountability Campaigns Alex Witt issued the following statement: “With this action, Trump and Lee Zeldin are saying that a pollutant that has proven to be harmful is actually good and beneficial. Pollutants make our kids sicker, our air dirtier, and our communities more vulnerable to extreme weather. Trump wants to undo decades of environmental protections that keep our air clean and our families safe, to give corporate polluters free rein to dump harmful chemicals into our air. Recklessly dismantling these protections so that his polluter friends can get richer will leave children and seniors to pay the price.”
