Vice President Harris’s Visit to Milwaukee Highlights What’s at Stake in November: Lower Costs and Hundreds of Environmental Protections

Milwaukee, WI— Last night, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Milwaukee to talk to voters about her forward-looking plans for the nation and how they will put working and middle class families first. Vice President Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to triple cost-saving clean energy production, giving us more, cleaner, cheaper energy options and saving Americans $38 billion on their electricity bills. Meanwhile, Trump will screw over the middle class by gutting our clean energy economy and giving $110 billion in tax breaks and other “deals” to Big Oil CEOs. The American people deserve better: 63% of voters say they want a president who stands up to Big Oil, not cozy up to them.
A recent poll found overwhelming support for Kamala Harris’ climate record. When asked to compare Harris’ and Trump’s energy and climate policies, voters say they prefer Harris’ approach by a +12-point margin.
Vice President Harris stands up for working families, advocates for environmental protections, and puts the American people before Big Oil. As California Attorney General, Harris defended critical laws protecting clean air and clean water, and in the Senate, she authored legislation protecting clean water and replacing lead pipes that were passed into law. Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the most significant climate investment in American history, which lowers costs while creating more than 330,000 good-paying jobs – jobs that will be jeopardized if Trump is elected in November. In 2023 alone, more than 3.4 million American families received $8.4 billion in tax credits for clean energy and energy efficiency upgrades– in Wisconsin, over 73,000 families received $91 million in upgrades.
Trump is already putting the White House up for sale – and looking out for himself instead of working people. Weeks before becoming a convicted felon, Trump offered Big Oil companies a “deal”: $1 billion to implement their agenda of crushing clean energy. While president, Trump gave $25 billion in tax breaks to Big Oil. Now, they’re financing his legal defense and his campaign. According to a report by the nonpartisan group, Energy Innovation, Project 2025 would lead to an increase of $240 more in annual energy costs for American households and $32 billion more in total household energy costs for Americans, as well as 1.7 million in total job losses in 2030.
