Vought Will Enact Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda

Washington, D.C. — Today, the Senate voted to confirm Russ Vought as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Vought was a key architect of Project 2025. During the campaign, Trump claimed he had “nothing to do with” Project 2025 – now, it has already proven to be the roadmap for Trump’s second term.
Climate Power executive director Lori Lodes issued the following statement:
“After repeatedly deceiving Americans about his support of Project 2025 throughout his campaign, Donald Trump has been steamrolling Congress to unilaterally enact his extreme policies at a breakneck speed. Now, he’s installed its chief architect as his OMB Director to ratchet up this power grab –– and as they do, everyday Americans will continue to pay a steeper and steeper price.
“Russell Vought has been the primary driver of Trump’s unlawful gambits to purge the federal government of civil servants and seize the power of the purse from Congress, cutting off funding for critical programs that help families heat their homes, keep the lights on, or afford their energy bills.
“From ‘impounding’ legally obligated funds that lower energy costs and create jobs to shuddering programs that keep struggling Americans afloat, Trump and Vought’s Project 2025 agenda is a direct assault on the rights and economic wellbeing of working families in this country. The American people did not vote for this, and Trump knew they never wanted it, which is why he denounced it to get elected.”
