Whatley Makes Up To Six Figures from Iran War While North Carolinians Feel the Pain at the Pump

Raleigh, NC  — More than a month into the Trump administration’s war of choice in Iran, Americans continue to feel the pain at the gas pump. However, GOP Senate candidate and former oil lobbyist Michael Whatley is reaping benefits from the war – according to the American Journal News, he made up to $219,660 from his investments in oil and gas companies between the start of the war and April 1st. That is three times the median income of a North Carolina family.

Meanwhile, the cost of gasdieselfertilizer, groceries, healthcare, and utilities continues to skyrocket across the state as a result of the Trump administration’s actions.

Climate Power NC State Director Terryn Hall issued the following statement:

“Gas prices are hitting North Carolina families hard, and it is unconscionable that Michael Whatley would benefit from the very war that is causing so much financial strain in our state. The fact that he can make so much money in such a short amount of time while our farmers struggle to get the diesel and fertilizer they need to run their businesses is shameful.”
