Why Isn’t Donald Trump in Kentucky? 

Washington, D.C. — Donald Trump has still not announced any plans to visit Kentucky, where flooding and extreme weather have killed at least 22 people. Trump’s actions throughout his first month in office show where his priorities lie – increasing profits for his donors over ensuring that disaster survivors have the resources they need to rebuild. Kentucky voted for Trump by over 64% – yet Trump is more worried about the gold in Kentucky than his own voters. 

Donald Trump is holding up necessary disaster aid across the country: 

• Last month, Trump’s funding cuts disrupted necessary disaster aid from being delivered to California and North Carolina. 
• The Trump administration said there would be conditions on Los Angeles wildfire aid. 
• Trump is gutting the agencies that provide disaster aid to impacted communities. 
• Trump has a history of politicizing disaster recovery — blocking congressionally approved aid from Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, and withholding wildfire aid from both California and Washington during his first term.
