Climate change is driving a nationwide home insurance crisis that is raising costs and putting the dream of homeownership out of reach for many Americans – and Trump and Republicans in Congress are only making matters worse.

The homeowners’ insurance industry has given millions to Trump while increasing policy costs and leaving Americans stranded without coverage. Property insurers donated more than $1.3 million to Trump’s presidential campaigns, and companies and investors with a stake in the industry also gave nearly $2.5 million to his inaugural committees.
