11 DAYS ‘TIL DEFAULT: DEFAULT ON AMERICA ACT WILL EXACERBATE THE CLIMATE CRISIS

Washington, D.C. – Congressional Republicans’ Default on America Act would kill our clean energy economy and exacerbate the climate crisis. According to a new report by the American Meteorological Society, heat waves that used to be virtually impossible will become the new norm by 2060 if the world doesn’t drastically cut its greenhouse gas emissions. 

By turbocharging our clean energy economy, the Inflation Reduction Act helps drastically reduce harmful climate pollution that causes natural disasters like heat waves. The historic climate law could cut emissions by 32% to 40% by 2030 compared to 2005 levels. Repealing the Inflation Reduction Act means that climate disasters will become more severe, and more common.
