Climate Power Statement on IPCC’s New Report

Washington, D.C. – Today, Lori Lodes, executive director of Climate Power, issued the following statement in response to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s new report on the damage caused by the climate crisis:

“This report is a wake-up call. Already, the climate crisis is devastating communities across the country. Delaying action any longer will be disastrous. The magnitude of the global climate crisis demands action at the same scale. This means transitioning to a clean energy economy and climate-proofing our nation’s critical infrastructure as swiftly as possible. It also means we must invest in low-income communities and communities of color, who are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

“Cutting pollution in half by 2030 will protect us from the worst impacts of the climate crisis while delivering real, tangible benefits for people. Seizing this opportunity will allow us to invest in wind, solar and other clean energy sources that won’t run out. It’s time to build a clean energy economy that secures our energy supply and lowers families’ energy bills. It’s up to Congress to deliver for the American people.”
