Energy Secretary Granholm to Visit Ohio Touting Biden Administration’s Clean Energy Plan
Columbus, Ohio – Today, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm will visit Ohio as part of the Invest in America Tour, highlighting how the Administration’s agenda is driving manufacturing and clean energy growth, rebuilding America’s infrastructure, and creating over 142,000 good-paying jobs and counting for everyday Americans.
Thanks to President Biden’s clean energy plan, Ohio has benefited immensely from the clean energy job growth it has spurred. Since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, nearly $7.76 billion of investments in clean energy have been announced in the state, creating more than 5,000 jobs.
Some examples of the private sector investments in Ohio’s booming clean energy economy since the Inflation Reduction Act’s passage:
- Honda and LG Energy Solutions are partnering on a $4.4 billion investment to develop a battery plant project in Fayette County, the largest direct private investment in Ohio’s history.
- First Solar made a $680 million investment to expand their solar plant in Wood County.
- Invenergy made a $600 million investment for a new solar plant that will create 850 new jobs.
Granholm’s visit to the Buckeye State comes after her travel across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee in an electric vehicle, highlighting private and public sector investments in batteries, electric vehicle chargers and supply chains.
