PRESIDENT BIDEN TAKES ACTION TO ACCELERATE U.S. CLEAN ENERGY MANUFACTURING AND LOWER COSTS FOR FAMILIES

The President is deferring solar tariffs and invoking the Defense Production Act, guaranteeing a future for domestic clean energy manufacturing.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  President Biden made a decisive move today to rapidly accelerate the manufacturing of clean energy in the United States; including by using the Defense Production Act to increase production of solar, heat pumps, electric grid components, insulation and fuel cells.

“As long as we are dependent on oil and gas, families will keep experiencing big spikes in their gas prices and energy costs. Energy costs are crippling household budgets and the climate crisis can be seen in all of our backyards. Real energy independence is possible if we address these issues head on, which means rapidly accelerating the production of  clean energy here in America. The President’s actions are a win for families across the country,” said Lori Lodes, Executive Director of Climate Power. “Investing in American-made clean energy will boost U.S. manufacturing, lower costs for families, create millions of good paying jobs and position the United States as a global leader on the cutting edge of clean energy innovation.”
