Rep. Ciscomani Heads Home for Recess as Arizonans Struggle to Pay for Gas, Groceries & Utilities

PHOENIX—Rep. Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) has been spotted in Scotland during congressional recess, rather than heading back to his district. For months, Rep. Ciscomani has declined to host a town hall, running away from his constituents. Unfortunately for him, Trump’s war in Iran is sending gas and diesel prices through the roof, making everything from airfare to groceries more expensive. This comes after Republicans voted to gut clean energy production, taking clean energy projects offline at a time when energy demand and utility costs are skyrocketing.
Here are just a few ways Arizonans are worse off thanks to Trump and enablers like Ciscomani:
- In the past month, the price of gas has increased to $4.68 in Arizona
- Since Trump took office, average residential electricity rates have increased by 6% in Arizona
- 161,291 Arizona households are behind on their utility bills, with an average debt of $676.69
- 8,907 clean energy jobs and $3,661,200,000 in investment have been lost or stalled in Arizona
Here are some questions for Ciscomani Arizonans deserve answers to:
- Why aren’t you prioritizing meeting with your constituents in-district and instead traveling to Scotland for a tour of a castle?
- What would you say to your constituents who are struggling to pay for the rising cost of groceries, gas, and utilities in your district?
- What’s your response to the majority of Arizonans who don’t support Trump’s war in Iran?
- With gas over $4 a gallon and Arizona families stretched thin, do you support the President spending his time in a courtroom trying to strip citizenship from children born on Arizona soil?
- What is stopping you from standing against President Trump’s war on clean energy in Arizona?
Republicans in Congress like Ciscomani have voted to gut clean energy projects in their own state that would have created jobs and protected Americans from global energy shocks. Meanwhile, Trump is bragging about making money off of the war and telling Americans to quit whining about soaring gas prices, leaving vulnerable Republicans scrambling to spin his disastrous economic agenda.
