Climate Power and Future Forward USA Action Release New Ads, Expanding Outreach to Black Communities as Continuation of $50 Million Education Campaign

Washington, D.C. — Climate Power and Future Forward USA Action launched new radio, TV, and digital ads as part of a joint $50 million educational ad buy about how communities across the country can benefit from the Biden administration’s climate and clean energy accomplishments. The new ads focus on lowering costs, creating jobs, and improving health outcomes for Black communities.

“What If,” a radio ad, and “Brighter Days,” a TV and digital ad, will continue to air throughout July in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Wisconsin. 

“Black communities have been on the frontlines of the climate crisis for decades, bearing the brunt of Big Oil’s pro-polluter agenda,” said Markeya Thomas, Climate Power’s senior advisor for Black engagement. “President Biden’s clean energy plan is taking the critical first steps to revitalize our communities by curbing harmful pollution, lowering energy costs, and creating good paying jobs. Our partnership is critical to telling the story of our climate and clean energy wins, and how we can benefit from President Biden’s clean energy plan.”

Black Americans care deeply about climate change. According to polling conducted by The Brookings Institute, Black Americans are more concerned about climate change than the national average, with 88% of Black Americans being concerned about climate change, less polarized, and more likely to take action to support climate policy.

The Biden administration has made more climate progress than any other in U.S. history. Since the start of his presidency, President Biden has taken more than 300 climate actions, and thanks to his clean energy plan, over 300,000 clean energy jobs have been announced across the country.
