EPA ADMINISTRATOR FOX IN SEATTLE: HIGHLIGHTING CLEAN WATER INVESTMENTS FOR TRIBAL COMMUNITIES

Seattle, WA— Assistant Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Office of Water, Radhika Fox, will visit Seattle, Washington today to spotlight the infrastructure and clean water investments benefitting tribal communities in the state, as a result of President Biden’s clean energy plan.
Tribal Nations remain at the forefront of climate change – battling against continued threats to food, water supplies, and sacred homelands. To combat this, President Biden’s clean energy plan has already secured historic levels of funding specifically for Tribal Nations and Native communities – including more than $720 million from the Inflation Reduction Act.
In Washington state, the Inflation Reduction Act has spurred $1.72 billion in clean energy investments, creating over 800 jobs, a push that benefits the 29 federally recognized tribes in Washington state and their lands.
The clean energy commitment to tribal communities nationwide, by the numbers:
- $32.2 billion in investments made in tribal communities since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act.
- 37,987 new clean energy jobs created in tribal communities.
- $32 billion in funding from the American Rescue Plan.
- $13 billion in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
