In Hit to Republican Electoral Hopes, Trump Admits Gas Prices Could Be “A Little Bit Higher” Come the Midterms

Polling from Navigator Research shows that 60% of voters blame Trump and Republicans in Congress for the recent rise in gas prices.
Washington, DC – Over the weekend, Trump hopped on Fox, his favorite news network, and what he had to tell the American people about the impacts of his war of choice in Iran was nothing short of disrespectful. Trump called into Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo to try to spin his administration’s failures, and when asked directly if gas prices would be lower come November, Trump argued they could either be lower or higher (which is, of course, two of the only three options that can exist in the future). It is clear that Trump — and his Republican enablers in Congress — have no plans to bring down prices at the pump and no plan to help improve people’s bottom lines.

Republicans already know this presidency is going to spell disaster for them in the midterms. Recently released Pew Research Center polling found that gas prices were Americans’ top concern regarding Trump’s war of choice. To make matters worse, polling from Navigator Research shows that 60% of voters blame Trump and Republicans in Congress for the recent rise in gas prices.
REMINDER: Americans are also paying the price for Trump’s failures at home, with utility bills rising by as much as 13%. His war on clean energy has also made its impacts significantly worse. Climate Power’s April Clean Energy Snapshot shows that to date, 365 clean energy projects have been canceled, delayed, or are laying off staff. That translates to nearly 180,000 jobs lost or delayed and $61.4 billion in lost or delayed private investment.
