Trump Signs Budget Bill that Punishes Latino Families with Higher Costs and Toxic Pollution

New law hits Latino families with soaring electricity bills, higher food and healthcare costs, and weakened environmental protections—voters won’t forget.
WASHINGTON — Today, Donald Trump signed into law the Republican-backed Big, Beautiful Bill—legislation that raises everyday expenses, slashes economic opportunity, and exposes Latino communities to even more toxic pollution. In response, Antonieta Cádiz, Executive Director for Climate Power En Acción, issued the following statement:
“With the stroke of a pen, Trump and Republicans in Congress just made life harder for millions of Latino families. This cruel and deeply unpopular law gives billionaires and Big Oil a payday while Latino communities are left to suffer the consequences.
At a time when our families are already struggling to make ends meet, this law will drive up grocery prices, increase electricity bills, gut health care, and wipe out clean energy jobs that have created real economic opportunity for our community. It’s a deliberate decision to force American families to pay more for less—less security, less opportunity, less protection.
And the damage doesn’t stop there. By tearing down environmental safeguards, Trump’s law gives polluters a green light to poison our air and water. Our neighborhoods will be hit hardest. Our kids will breathe more toxic air. Our future will be sacrificed for profit.
This is a betrayal we won’t forget—and come election time, Latino voters will hold every single one of them accountable.”
