Trump’s Visit to Asheboro Highlights What’s at Stake in November for North Carolina: over 11,000 Clean Energy Jobs and Significant Investment in Randolph County

Asheboro, NC — Today, Donald Trump visits Asheboro, North Carolina, where the state stands to lose more than 11,000 clean energy jobs and $19 billion in private-sector investment if he wins the presidency in November. Randolph County in particular has benefitted from the Biden-Harris clean energy plan, where Toyota has continued to invest in an EV plant, creating good paying jobs. According to recent polling, more than seven in ten voters support the Biden-Harris administration’s clean energy plan. Despite that, Congressional Republicans have already voted to repeal the clean energy plan more than 42 times

“North Carolina residents know that the investments from the Biden-Harris clean energy plan are lowering costs, reducing pollution, and bringing good-paying clean energy jobs into our communities,” says Terryn Hall, NC State Desk for Climate Power. “A Trump-Vance administration would mean erasing all of the good jobs and clean energy progress that North Carolina has made over the past three and a half years.”

Trump and his allies are already putting the White House up for sale. Weeks before becoming a convicted felon, Trump offered Big Oil companies a “deal”: he asked for $1 billion for his campaign while promising to implement their agenda of crushing clean energy. While president, Trump gave $25 billion in tax breaks to Big Oil. Now, they’re financing his legal defense and his campaign.

Vice President Harris will put the American people before Big Oil. 63% of voters say they want the president to stand up to Big Oil, not cozy up to them. The Biden-Harris administration stood up to Big Oil with a clean energy plan that represents the most significant climate investment in American history, all while lowering costs and creating more than 334,000 good-paying jobs—jobs that Trump will threaten if elected in November.
